Police investigate separate fatal crashes in Harrison, Monongalia counties

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Two people have died in separate traffic crashes in Harrison and Monongalia counties.

Police in Bridgeport said a motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon after the motorcycle collided with a vehicle on U.S. Route 50.

The collision occurred at around 1:30 p.m.

A Sunday morning crash on Interstate 68 killed an Ohio woman, according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies said Kealani Brianne Smith, 24, of Ohio, lost control of her vehicle headed west between Coopers Rock and Cheat Lake at about 7:20 a.m. Smith was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Deputies were assisted by crash reconstructionists from Monongalia and Preston counties along with the Granville Police Department, Mon EMS, Brookhaven Fire Department and the DOH.
