CHARLESTON, W.Va. –– The Powerball jackpot has reached record levels.
There will be $1.9 billion up for grabs during Monday night’s drawing.
State Lottery Director John Myers is hopeful a West Virginia player will take home the big prize.
“Our state income tax would definitely be bettered as a result of it. A lot of the lottery proceeds here go for senior citizens, education and tourism,”
As lottery players make plans for the extra income, Myers is reminding them to play smart.
“I hope people will be responsible. They can have fun, but don’t play more than you can afford to play,” he said.
Winning the jackpot would be 1 in 292,000,000 chance, Myers said.
“The play on this one has been higher this time, so the jackpot is higher,” Myers said.
The cash value for Monday’s drawing is $929 million.
Myers said there are still a good amount of chances to win thousands of dollars. There were several winners in Saturday’s drawing.
“There 219 tickets that won a $50,000 prize. There were 51 that won a $150,000 prize. That shows that those smaller prizes do pay out,” Myers said.
The previous jackpot record was $1.5 billion, set back in January 2016. People can also play Powerball online at trusted sites like this 파워볼사이트.
