Police identify two who died in Raleigh County head-on crash

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. — An accident on I-77 in Raleigh County leaves two people dead.

A tractor-trailer and a car collided in a head-on crash between the Ghent and Beckley exits around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at mile marker 37 of I-77 North, according to West Virginia State Police.

The driver of passenger vehicle was later identified as Abraham Morris, 49 of Salisbury, NC. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 14-year-old juvenile passenger was removed from the vehicle and transported by EMS to Raleigh General Hospital. He also succumbed to his injuries.

The driver and passenger of the tractor trailer, Ismenord Berry, 32 of Goldsboro, NC and Jeff Rampart, 29 of North Port, FL, were uninjured.

This crash investigation remains active and ongoing.
