Man hit, killed by tractor-trailer in Nicholas County

NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in Nicholas County Wednesday morning.

West Virginia State Police said the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday along Route 39 in Nettie.

The pedestrian was identified as Jedediah Shane McCutcheon, 42, of Leivasy. Troopers said McCutcheon was walking in the center of the roadway, wearing a black jacket and black pants.

Troopers said the driver of the tractor-trailer, who was traveling east on Route 39 was unable to avoid hitting McCutcheon.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation conducted a full inspection of the tractor-trailer, and found nothing wrong with it. State police found the driver was not under the influence of any substances or alcohol and he will not face any charges.
