West Virginia violinist wows America’s Got Talent in season premier performance

PASADENA, CA — In the season 18 premiere of America’s Got Talent, a West Virginia native rocked the audience and the judges with his violin performance.

“It’s a big stage, but I’m ready for a big moment,” Phil Bowen, of Montgomery, said before taking the stage in front of the America’s Got Talent judges and audience, which included his parents who still live in West Virginia.

Bowen delivered. All four judges gave him a resounding and easy “yes.”

Bowen, who now lives in Detroit, said he’s chasing his dream of playing the violin for a worldwide audience.

“I have three young kids, and I want to show them that it is never too late to chase down a dream,” he said.

For his parents who were in the audience for his electrifying violin playing, Bowen thanked his mother for allwoing him to take violin lessons to help him achieve his dream.

“From there I fell in love with it and have been playing ever since,” Bowen told the judges.

Without a doubt, all four AGT judges gave Bowen the thumbs up for his high intensity violin play. Simon Cowell was blown away by Bowen’s ability.

“I wasn’t expecting that, you are so talented and you have so much charisma,” Cowell said following Bowen’s performance.

He will be moving on and returning for another violin rendition on the popular NBC show.
