Dan Comer named WVSSAC Assistant Executive Director

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Berkeley County educator and coach Dan Comer is joining the WVSSAC staff as Assistant Executive Director.

Comer was the first athletic director at Spring Mills High School. He won a pair of state track championships while coaching at Hedgesville. Comer earned WVSSAC and WVSACA Coach of the Year honors in 1995, 2003 and 2010.

Comer spent 38 years working in the Berkeley County School System, the last two as the county’s Coordinator for Health/Safety/Athletics.

The West Liberty State College alumnus earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education and safety. Comer later earned his masters and educational certificate from West Virginia University.

Comer fills the position previously held by Greg Reed. Reed passed away on January 12.
