CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The owner of a Grant County gas station says she’s hoping a $1 million Powerball ticket her store sold this week belongs to a winner from West Virginia.
The winning ticket for Wednesday night’s drawing was sold at Hartman’s Gas & Go on Keyser Avenue in Petersburg, according to the West Virginia Lottery. A $50,000 Powerball ticket was also sold at Shinnston Price Cutter on Pike Street in Shinnston.
Hartman’s Gas & Go owner Sandy Hartman was thrilled to hear the news Thursday morning.
“I was very surprised. We never sold anything that big, so yeah I was very shocked. I hope it was someone local who got it,” Hartman told MetroNews.
The $1 million dollar ticket matched all five numbers but not the Power Ball while the $50,000 winner matched four numbers plus the Power Ball. Neither ticket had the Power Play option purchased.
Hartman said a $10,000 lottery ticket was the most her store ever sold.
“It was on a scratch off. That was it. We sold a couple thousand dollars on scratch offs, but Powerball, we’ve never sold anything big,” she said.
The two winners in West Virginia had not come forward as of Thursday morning. Hartman hopes she can congratulate the ticket holder if he or she decides to come forward.
“We couldn’t sold it yesterday or Tuesday or even if somebody bought it before that and had multiple draws on it. I don’t know when it went out or to who,” she said.
Wednesday’s numbers were 7, 10, 11, 13, 24, and the Power Ball was 24. Players are encouraged to check their tickets. There are nine prize tiers ranging from $4 to the jackpot.
The $1 billion dollar Powerball jackpot ticket was sold in southern California. That means the Powerball jackpot has reset to $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot stands at $720 million for Friday’s drawing.
