Man arrested in Fayette County after fatally shooting a woman in Mercer County

PRINCETON, W.Va. — Police have released the name of the suspect of a fatal shooting that killed a woman in Princeton Thursday night.

They confirm Cory Callen, 33, of Bluefield was arraigned in Mercer County Friday after he was arrested in Fayette County. He is charged with first degree murder for attacking and shooting a woman to death just after 8 p.m. near the Lilly Grove community along Gardener Loop, according to the police report.

Police say the victim was identified as Leona Edwards, who appeared to be shot multiple times while exiting her vehicle.

Callen was arraigned via video in the Mercer County Magistrate Court. He is currently being held in Central Regional Jail in Braxton County without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
