CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Raleigh County Republican Executive Committee is preparing to host West Virginia’s top four gubernatorial candidates for a live debate Tuesday night.

The debate will be held at The Resort at Glade Springs beginning at 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
State Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, former Kanawha County Delegate Moore Capito, Secretary of State Mac Warner and Huntington businessman Chris Miller will face off for 90-minutes.
MetroNews “Talkline” Host Hoppy Kercheval will serve as the debate moderator.
Raleigh County Republican Executive Committee Chair Julie Kominsky said the debate will be held in the ballroom in the conference center at the resort in Daniels.
“It will be auditorium style, so we will have a stage with candidates on podiums,” she said.
This is the first debate with all four top Republican candidates for governor. Kercheval moderated a GOP debate with Capito, Warner and Miller in Dec. 2023.
“This is an excellent opportunity for the voters of West Virginia to hear from the four leading candidates for governor running in the Primary Election,” Kercheval said. “Certainly, we will talk about the economy, roads, social issues and just try to determine what the differences are among these candidates on some of the key issues.”
Kominsky said even though many of the candidates share a lot of the same beliefs, the committee is hoping to nominate the candidate with the most conservative values.
“Most of us want a conservative candidate. We want to know how they will forward our communities. Education is a big topic. The prison system is a big topic. Infrastructure is a big topic,” she said.
Tickets to the event are still available. There will be post-debate buffet dinner which is included with the price of general admission. A cash bar will also be available. The dinner area includes an area where candidates running for office will have the opportunity to host a table where they can meet with attendees.
MetroNews will live stream the event Tuesday night at wvmetronews.com.
The debate will be recorded by WOAY-TV and will broadcast in its entirety on Sunday, Feb. 11.
