Man accused of stealing Cabell County ambulance arrested

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The man seen getting into an ambulance and driving away from the scene of a medical emergency in Huntington has been arrested.

According to the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Anthony Ray Bell, 37, was taken into custody and booked into Western Regional Jail just after 12:30 a.m. He was wanted on felony stolen auto and several misdemeanor offenses.

EMS crews had responded to a patient experiencing a medical emergency at a home on Washington Avenue in Huntington at around 6:30 a.m. Monday. Dash cam footage from Cabell County EMS shows Bell hop into the ambulance and drive away from the scene.

The ambulance was later found in the 600 block of Division Street West. Dash cam video shows Bell get out of the ambulance and leave it in the 600 block of Division Street West.

Bell’s bond has been set at $25,600. He’s scheduled to appear in court May 7.
