Authorities arrest five in Huntington drug bust

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Huntington Police Department (HPD) has announced the arrests of five people tied to a drug trafficking organization based in Columbus, Ohio.

On Wednesday, May 22, the Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1600 block of Jackson Avenue in Huntington as part of an ongoing investigation into the drug trafficking organization. Investigators ended up locating five individuals inside the residence along with a loaded handgun, a large quantity of crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, materials for packaging and distributing the illegal narcotics and a large amount of cash.

Ronald Ray McComas, 64, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with one felony charge of conspiring to violate the Controlled Substances Act and one misdemeanor charge of maintaining a dwelling for purposes of controlled substance use or distribution. McComas was arraigned and assigned a $100,000 cash only bond.

Karen Elizabeth Bennett, 45, of Huntington, was arrested on two outstanding warrants in West Virginia. Bennett’s bond is a $10,000 standard terms bond.

Darryl L. Collins

Darryl L. Collins, 22, of Columbus, OH, was arrested and charged with one felony charge of conspiring to violate the Controlled Substances Act. Collins was arraigned and given a $50,000 cash only bond.

Taemarr S. Gunnell, 22, of Columbus, OH, has been charged with one felony charge of conspiring to violate the Controlled Substances Act. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only.

Kenneth Deon Russell- Reynolds, aka Marlo, 23, of Grove City, OH, was arrested and charged with four felony charges including one felony count of conspiring to violate the Controlled Substances Act and three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Russell- Reynolds was arraigned and given a $200,000 cash only bond.

HPD said more arrests are expected to be made as the investigation is ongoing.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Kenova Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
