BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Several people are recovering from gunshot wounds today after a large party overnight ended in gunfire. Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer said his deputies and emergency crews responded to the incident at a home on Householder Road about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“When they got there, they found out there were four victims hit by gunfire,” said Bohrer.
Three of the victims were taken to Berkeley Medical Center where two were treated and released and a third is undergoing surgery. The fourth victim was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
The Sheriff said they are hoping to talk to anybody who was there.
“We would be interested in anyone who might have been at this party that might have information on suspects or suspect vehicles who were involved in the gunfire,” he told the Panhandle News Network.
The party escalated thanks to an app which kept inviting people to show up and according to the Sheriff they did. It’s also not the first time they’ve had problems like this.
“We have responded to at least three of these large parties and Berkeley County has had several of them as well. There is some sort of app which will reach out and invite people to party. In the last two weeks we’ve responded to three of these where there are large amounts of people from all over the Tri-State and locally. Some of them involve Air BNB’s where they have the parties,” the Sheriff said.
Bohrer feared the app was drawing juveniles to the parties where they don’t know anyone. So far all of the gatherings have resulted in some sort of violence.
“Several of the parties our officers have responded to there have been multiple people there with multiple guns,” he said.
