BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va.— The Veterans Nursing Home in Barboursville will be receiving much needed upgrades to their facilities.
Thursday Governor Jim Justice went to the nursing home to have a celebratory signing of House Bill 203, which allocates $1.2 million dollars the home. The bill was officially passed on September 30, during West Virginia Legislature’s special session that Justice called for.
“$1.2 million dollars will do a lot of stuff here and that’s good,” Justice said. “But, in the scope of things, really 1.2 million dollars as far as something we should do for our vets, are you kidding me, are you kidding me, we should run, run with the money and bring it down here and bow down and thank you over and over and over.”
During the signing it was said the home will be changing the 30 year old heating and cooling systems, modernizing the kitchen to help maximize safety to help them better serve their 125 residents, they’ll be replacing the 40 year old furniture that are in the bedrooms and sitting areas and they’ll be renovating their nurses station, which is crowded and cramped to enhance the assistance that is provided to the veterans.
When Justice went to sign the bill, he thanked the veterans that were there at the facility and signed it proudly.
“I’ll sign this right now very proudly,” Justice said. “And I tell you again, from the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of all West Virginia, from the bottom of all of this nation, we love and appreciate you, thanks so much.”
