GRANT TOWN, W.Va. — A Marion County couple has been charged with child abuse.
Marion County deputies say they received a complaint in May from one of three juveniles in a Grant Town home alleging Samantha Perkins, 34, and Daniel Perkins, 56, had beaten them.
When deputies observed bruises and blood on the juvenile they contacted Child Protective Services.
When CPS arrived they conducted a walk through with deputies and found trash scattered throughout the front of the residence as well as trash and dirt on the floor with a strong odor of raw sewage coming from the bathroom.
In the bathroom, officials said there was raw sewage overflowing in the toilet and an infestation of flies. In one of the bedrooms where three juveniles were located officials said there was a dirty mattress on the floor with a feeding tube a juvenile that appeared to be malnourished.
Samantha Perkins has been charged with child abuse.
Daniel Perkins has been charged with child neglect and child abuse.
Both are being held in North Central Regional Jail.
