Women dead following Thursday night crash

BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va.—– A woman is dead following a vehicle crash on Thursday night in Berkeley County.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday night Tropper D.E. Smith responded to a vehicle crash that involved a pedestrian near the WV Route 9 Bypass.

According to police, the investigation revealed that an adult female was walking in the eastbound lane of WV Route 9 at the same time the driver of a 2021 Volvo XC60 was also traveling eastbound. The driver did not see the victim and struck her with the front bumper. The victim was then struck by a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
