Jett Strickenberger and Peyton Hall claimed top honors in the Big 12 Wrestling Championships Sunday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The titles are the fifth and sixth for the Mountaineers since joining the conference in 2013.

Strickenberger, the No. 3 seed in the 125-pound weight class defeated No. 4 seed Troy Spratley of Oklahoma State, 5-2 in sudden victory.

Newly-minted as WVU’s all-time wins leader, Oak Glen High School graduate Peyton Hall won his first Big 12 title at 165 pounds. Seeded second, Hall defeated Missouri’s Cam Steed, 2-0 in the championship. Hall earned an escape point 27 seconds into the second period and he added a riding time point in the third period.

Hall is now a five-time NCAA Tournament qualifier. He will be joined at nationals by teammates Strickenberger, Jordan Titus (141 pounds) and Cameron High School graduate Ian Bush (197 pounds). Bush finished fourth in his class. Titus finished sixth. Sam Hillegas came in seventh at 149 pounds. Caleb Dowling finished eighth at 157 pounds.
