Clarksburg woman arrested for allegedly stabbing mother to death

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Clarksburg woman has been charged with murder after her mother was found dead of stab wounds Saturday evening.

Law enforcement responded to a disorderly disturbance on Clarksburg’s Laurel Drive at around 8:45 when they discovered Elaine Labenne, 64, has been stabbed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a release from the Clarksburg Police Department, officers learned that Labenne had been stabbed with a knife by her daughter, Shanna Marie Vannorman, 41. The two were both living at the residence.

Vannorman is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.

The Clarksburg Police Department says an investigation is ongoing.
