Mike Green greatly enhanced his status as a professional prospect throughout a dominant 2024 season at Marshall.
While Green was not chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft, the edge rusher came off the board Friday in the second round when he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 59th overall pick.

The 6-foot-3, 251-pound Green began his college career at Virginia, where he saw limited action in 2021. He was suspended in 2022 and transferred to Marshall before the 2023 season.
During his time at Virginia, Green was accused of sexual assault, allegations he denied at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.Â
After finishing with 4.5 sacks in his first campaign with Marshall, Green took off in a major way last season and led FBS with 17 sacks.
The Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2024, Green also had a nation’s best 22.5 tackles for loss.
Green recorded at least one sack in 10 of Marshall’s 13 games, including three over non-conference matchups at Virginia Tech and Ohio State, the eventual National Champion.
The ESPN broadcast captured an emotional Green upon receiving the news he had been drafted. A number of mock drafts pegged Green as a first-round pick.Â
Green is the Herd’s sixth second-round pick, all of which have been from 2000 on.
It marks the second straight year Baltimore has taken a Marshall player in the draft. The Ravens drafted running back Rasheen Ali in the fifth round in 2024.
