Authorities arrest hospital patient after armed standoff, bomb threats

WESTON, W.Va. — State Police say a patient at the William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston made bomb threats toward government facilities.

Brandon McGoyle

According to a release, police were received a call Monday regarding patient, Brandon McGoye, 27, of Huntington, making bomb threats. An additional call came in saying McGoye had armed himself and engaged in a standoff with facility personnel.

Troopers quickly located and arrested McGoye without incident. An investigation into the incident shows no evidence that McGoye’s threats were credible.

McGoye has been charged with eight counts of terroristic threats and seven counts of false reports of bombs or other explosive devices.

He is being held at the Central Regional Jail on a $1,000,000 cash bond.
