Morrisey announces performance audits of Department of Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Transportation

Gov. Patrick Morrisey

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced a winning bid for a contact to complete performance evaluations of the Department of Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Transportation.

BDO USA, P.C. was selected to conduct independent performance evaluations for the three state agencies.

According to a release from Morrisey’s office, the audits will look at the operations, programs, and activities for the agencies to “ensure they align with West Virginia’s laws and regulations, while identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness.”

BDO will be tasked with reviewing compliance with both federal and state laws, inventory services, and analyzing performance metrics.

These evaluations are part of Morrisey’s efforts to thoroughly review all forms of state government to look for any inefficiencies.

In a statement, Morrisey said this is a step in ensuring all three agencies are operating to their best of their ability.

“West Virginians deserve government agencies that operate effectively, and my administration is committed to rooting out all inefficiencies across state government. These performance audits will help identify areas where departments may not be adding maximum value, uncover risks and redundancies, and highlight strengths and weaknesses in organizational structures, procedures, and technology,” he said.
