Legislative interim committee meetings begin Sunday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State lawmakers will be in Charleston for monthly interim committee meetings Sunday through Tuesday.

Members of the House and Senate are scheduled to take part in more than two dozen meetings.

Two meetings scheduled for Sunday will focus on education.

Members of the Joint Committee on Finance will get an update Monday morning on the state’s finances. That committee will meet again on Tuesday to hear from the Board of Risk and Insurance Management (BRIM) along with an update on state pension plans.

The legislature’s Joint Committee on Flooding will meet Tuesday and is scheduled to get a comprehensive update on recovery efforts in southern and northern West Virginia following devastating flash flooding that occurred in February and June.

Interims are scheduled to be at Pipestem Resort State Park next month with a return to the capitol set for the round of meetings in December.
