GRANTSVILLE, W.Va. — Jacob McCumbers, the Calhoun County Commissioner facing charges after allegedly sexually abusing a child, has resigned.

McCumbers, 39, of Arnoldsburg, was arrested last month and charged with 50 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian.

McCumbers was also a first-grade teacher at Arnoldsburg Elementary School.
During a Tuesday meeting, the commission accepted McCumbers’ resignation and appointed Clarence Lee Rush to the temporarily fill the vacant seat.
Rush was also appointed to take all of McCumbers’ previous board positions, including his seat on the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council board.
Rush is a lifelong resident of Calhoun County.
