One dead, another injured in weekend crash in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. — A man is dead, and another person is injured after a single-vehicle accident on Sunday in Jackson County.

Information first released Tuesday by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said that David Scott Tackett, 45, of Ripley, died at the scene. The wreck was reported on WV Rt. 2 and Point Pleasant Road at around 5 o’clock Sunday morning.

Deputies say the vehicle, which Tackett was the driver of, went across an oncoming lane into a ditch and struck a culvert under a driveway. The vehicle went airborne and hit the end of a guardrail. Tackett was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled and got pinned underneath.

According to the sheriff’s office, a female passenger was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg. She remained in the vehicle after it flipped.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
