Fatal crash in Monongalia County

STAR CITY, W.Va. — One person was killed in a Monday morning crash on I-79 in Monongalia County.

Deputies report the crash between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car was reported at mile marker 155 in the Star City area at 6:10 a.m.

Five passengers in the passenger car were transported to JW Ruby Memorial Hospital by Monongalia County EMS for treatment of unspecified injuries. One of the passengers died of their injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Monongalia County Sheriff’s deputies are conducting the investigation. Police from Star City, and Granville PD assisted. Volunteer Fire Departments from Granville, Star City, Westover and Greene County Pennsylvania also responded to the scene.

No other details about the crash are being released at this time.
