House vote ends government shutdown

WASHIINGTON, D.C. — The United States House of Representatives has voted to re-open the government after the longest shutdown in the nation’s history.

The House voted 222-209 on a funding package Wednesday night, which would re-open the government. The bill passed through the Senate on Monday.

Rep. Riley Moore (WV-2), who voted yes Wednesday, says the last month and a half was avoidable.

“It was a pathetic political stunt that came at the expense of the livelihoods of Americans,” Moore wrote on X.

Rep. Carol Miller (WV-1), who was also a “yes” vote, also took to X after the vote. She says U.S. citizens were done wrong.

“The American people deserve a government that works for them. Instead, Democrats, used our citizens’ safety as a bargaining chip for their $1.5 trillion demands,” she wrote.

The bill now goes to President Trump’s desk for a signature.
