PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A former swim coach in Parkersburg has entered a plea deal relating to charges of sexual assault and abuse of children.
David Andrew Adams, 38, of Parkersburg, entered a Kennedy plea on Wednesday before Circuit Judge Jason Wharton.
Adams was originally charged in 2023 with sexually assaulting and abusing three young girls under the age of 12. He formerly served as the head swim coach of the Parkersburg Sharks at the local YMCA.
He admitted Wednesday to five counts of sexual abuse in the first degree against five children ages 9 to 12.
Investigators said the crimes occurred between October 2018 and July 2022.
In September 2024, Adams was indicted on two counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of third-degree sexual assault, 11 counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust and several other charges.
Adams was scheduled to go to trial on Monday.
