Seward: Wolfe’s progress after shooting a ‘Christmas miracle’

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State Adjutant General Jim Seward says West Virginia National Guard Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe is now speaking and walking in small increments three weeks after being shot outside the White House.

Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, 24, who hails from the eastern panhandle, was ambushed and shot during an attack while he was patrolling in the streets of Washington D.C. the day before Thanksgiving. Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, died from her injuries a day after the attack.

According to a Tuesday Facebook post on Seward’s personal page, Wolfe is talking and going for shorts walks outside his room.

Wolfe was moved from acute care at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. to an inpatient rehabilitation last week.

Wolfe’s family decided not to disclose the location of his rehabilitation.
