BLOOMERY, W.Va. — A man is dead after a Monday logging accident in Hampshire County.
According to the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office, Earl Hott, 53, of Ridgeley, died after a being struck by a large tree limb.
Witnesses told police that a tree Hott was cutting down cut backwards and struck a dead tree nearby. A large limb from the dead tree then broke loose and fell on Hott.
Hott died immediately from blunt force trauma.
The incident remains under investigation.
