CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Another West Virginian can go home $50,000 richer this week.
While the Powerball jackpot was not hit during Monday’s drawing, a $50,000 ticket was sold at Convenience Plus on 1st Street in Huntington. The ticket matched four numbers and the Power Ball.
The winning ticket in Huntington marks the third $50,000 Powerball ticket sold in the Mountain State over the last two weeks. One ticket was purchased at the Martinsburg Walmart, and another was purchased at the Welch Bantam Market.
With no perfect tickets matching on Monday, the jackpot is now at $1.7 billion (estimated cash value of $781.3 million) for the Christmas Eve drawing. It’s the fourth-largest jackpot in the game’s history and 47th drawing in the current run.
“A potential Christmas Eve jackpot- what a moment,” said West Virginia Lottery acting director David Bradley. “This is the longest jackpot run, one of the biggest, and we get to watch this during one of the ‘most wonderful times of the year’. We love to see this excitement for our players, we love to see those wins, and we love to see this for proceeds, but we want to stress how important it is to play responsibly and safe, especially during the holidays.”
