CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Del. Trenton Barnhart will soon find himself on the other end of the state capitol for the rest of the legislative session.

Barnhart, R-Pleasants, was appointed Tuesday night to the Senate by Gov. Patrick Morrisey, filling the vacancy created with this month’s retirement of 40-year Senator Donna Boley, R-Pleasants.

“Delegate Barnhart has served West Virginians in the 7th District with energy, integrity, and a deep commitment to conservative principles,” Morrisey said. “I am honored to appoint him to the West Virginia Senate to succeed Senator Donna Boley, whose decades of service have shaped our state for the better.”
Morrisey will name Barnhart’s replacement in the House.
Morrisey also announced the appointment of former Del. Guy Ward to an open House seat. Ward represents a section of Marion County.
