NITRO, W.Va. — A McDowell County man charged with being naked inside Mardi Gras Casino in Nitro Sunday morning is being held on a murder charge from McDowell County.
Thomas Jeffrey Lawson Jr., 33, of Iaeger, allegedly shot and killed his father, Thomas Lawson Sr. just hours before he showed up at the casino.
Lawson Jr. allegedly came up to a Nitro police officer in the casino at about 1 a.m. Sunday, yelled an obscenity and ran, he had no clothes on. The officer tackled him and took him into custody.
Niro police then learned of the murder.
McDowell County Sheriff James Muncy said the investigation into Lawson Sr’s. death is continuing.
The body was found in the Trail Hollow area.
Lawson is in the South Central Regional Jail where charges from Kanawha and McDowell counties are listed.
