Arrest made in WVU campus armed robbery attempt

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU Police thwarted an armed robbery attempt with a quick arrest Thursday.

Authorities said at about 1 p.m. near Summit Hall a person approached a WVU employee demanding money. They had a white-handled item believed to be a knife.

The suspect fled after being confronted and was taken into custody within a short period of time near Houston Street and McLane Avenue, police said.

“Our officers were able to use the description to quickly track the suspect, eliminating any threat to campus,” Chief Sherry St. Clair said. “We appreciate the fast response from others in the area and encourage all members of the University community to contact us about any suspicious activity they see.”

There were no injuries reported.
