Huntington police investigate 4 shootings, arrests made

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Four shootings in Huntington early Saturday morning resulted in several arrests.

“These incidents were the result of disputes between individuals and were not random acts of violence,” said Captain Ryan Bentley, Criminal Investigations Commander. “Our officers responded quickly and professionally under rapidly evolving and dangerous conditions. Their actions led to the immediate apprehension of multiple suspects and prevented further harm.”

The shootings took place on Vernon Street, in the area of 8th Street and 7th Avenue, along 61/2 Alley and along 6th Avenue.

Those charged include Ian Chapman, 18, of Huntington; Nathan Wimer, 23, of Elkview, who are both charged with malicious wounding; and Salvatore Dean, 21, of Charleston, who is charged with wanton endangerment.

One of the victims is in stable condition while the others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
