Logan County teacher arrested on sexual abuse charge, held on bail

LOGAN, W.Va. — A Logan County Middle School teacher is being held on a $50,000 bail after he was arrested Wednesday on a sexual abuse charge against a minor.

Curtis Collins (WVRJA)

Curtis Collins Jr., 44, was arrested one day after Logan County Schools announced two Logan Middle School staff members were under investigation.

Collins faces one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian.

The preliminary hearing for Collins is set for May 8 in Logan County Magistrate Court.

The Logan County Board of Education confirmed the probe Tuesday, but could say nothing more about what is alleged. The school system said it is cooperating with prosecutors.

The county released a statement saying the two staff members have been banned from the building pending an outcome of the investigation and that they are cooperating with law enforcement.

Collins is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail.
