Clarksburg native named Salem city manager

SALEM, W.Va. – The executive director of the Clarksburg Visitors Bureau has been named the next city manager in Salem.

Clarksburg native Aimee Comer takes over after the position was filled by interim leaders since the June 2024 departure of Jeff Edwards.

Comer was appointed to lead the Clarksburg Visitors Bureau in April of 2024 after a 15 year career in marketing and public relations. She received a bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State University in Business Administration, Marketing and went then earned a Master of Science in Marketing from John Hopkins University Carey Business School. She has also served as the Fundraising and Community Development Director at the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties and in political public relations as a contract worker and as a marketing consultant.

Comer will get right to work with utility projects, sidewalk repairs, and a bridge project on Mill Street. She’ll also be working preparing the city for the Independence Day celebration in the city scheduled for July 3.
