Information released about body discovered at Coopers Rock State Forest

CHEAT LAKE, W.Va. — The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department have announced that the body found in Coopers Rock State Forest during a “search and recovery” operation earlier this week has been identified.

According to a release issued Saturday afternoon, the body was identified as Andrew Zimmer, 34, of California.

According to deputies, the search and rescue operations began on Thursday after Zimmer’s abandoned vehicle was discovered. His body was later located in the forest after a several-hour search and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was then launched into the nature of Zimmer’s death and it has been determined that no foul play was involved.
