Scott Depot man pleads guilty to distributing fentanyl

SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. — A Putnam County man faces up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing substances containing fentanyl.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Demetrius Fitzgerald Green, 42, of Scott Depot, pleaded guilty to selling at least 40 grams of a substance that contained fentanyl on three different occasions.

Green, also known as “D,” sold more than 40 grams of fentanyl during three separate transactions, on February 18, February 27, and March 18, according to court documents.

Authorities said Green is one of eight people indicted in a federal fentanyl investigation in the Charleston area.

Green faces a minimum of five years in prison, with a maximum of 40 years of incarceration. Additionally, he will be fined up to $5 million and will serve at least four years of supervised release.

Green will be sentenced September 2.
