PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – A Parkersburg man faces a child abuse charge after admitting to shaking his 4-month-old child which resuled in the infant suffering serious injuries.
According to Parkersburg police, they were notified by state Child Protective Services on May 12 about an incident involving an unresponsive infant being brought to Camden Clark Medical Center.
The child’s father Cordel Farr, 23, of Parkersburg, took the child to the hospital where it was not breathing. The child was resuscitated by medical personnel who determined it possibly had a brain bleed.
The infant was flown by medical helicopter to Morgantown where doctors concluded the injuries did not result from natural causes. In an interview with investigators, Farr admitted to shaking the baby at his apartment in Parkersburg.
He was arrested May 20 and charged with child abuse causing serious bodily injury.
