Lambert chosen new school superintendent in Randolph County

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Randolph County School Board has selected its next county school superintendent.

Dr. Derek Lambert was picked at Tuesday night’s meeting. He’ll take the reins on July 1. The school board and Lambert agreed to a two-year contract.

Lambert replaces Shawn Dilly who resigned earlier this year.

The July 1 date is the same date Randolph County Schools could come off a state of emergency declared by the state Board of Education over the county’s school financing issues.

Terry George has been serving as interim school superintendent since late March.

County residents chose three new members to the Randolph County BOE in the May 12 election. They will also take office on July 1.
