CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man is recovering from a gunshot wound suffered as he left a Charleston bar early Wednesday morning. Charleston Police said Reginald Moore, 39, of St. Albans was shot in the abdomen around 3 a.m. after leaving the Empty Glass on Charleston’s east end.
“Mr. Moore was leaving the Empty Glass and got into a physical altercation across the street from the Empty Glass with a suspect. The suspect pulled a weapon and shot Mr. Moore one time,” said Charleston Deputy Police Chief Tony Hazelett.
Moore got into his vehicle and was attempting to drive himself to CAMC General hospital which was located only a few blocks away. On the way, he crashed his vehicle in the 1500 block of Washington Street East. He’s now at CAMC in stable condition.
Hazelett said they don’t have any identity or description on the shooter.
“We know he’s a black male, and that’s about all we know right now,” he said.
Detectives are scouring the neighborhood for surveillance cameras to see if they can get an image of the shooter who fled the scene soon after it happened.
“The suspect was not inside the bar, so we don’t know what the altercation was about. We’re still investigating, but if anyone has any information please contact us at 304-348-6480,” Hazelett said.
