ELKINS, W.Va. — The Randolph County Board of Education has agreed to transfer ownership of the Harman K-12 school to a community group hoping to keep learning going at the location.
The School Board voted 4-1 this week during their regular meeting to give the property to the Harman Education Association. The public school closed at the end of this school year. The Harman Education Association hopes to transition the property into a private, micro-school. The closure means Harman students will be transferred to schools in Elkins. The group wants to keep the school open for those who do not want to make the long daily ride.
Harman Education Association member Dan Bucher says the group is on track to meet a September opening date for the school which will also be accessible for community events.
