GRANVILLE, W.Va. — Despite sold-out crowds, Monongalia County Sheriff Todd Forbes says traffic through the weekend has not been too bad.
Because of the lack of congestion last weekend, Forbes thinks this weekend could even be lighter. Traffic has been the worst as games begin and immediately following the end.
“We don’t anticipate traffic being too big of an issue,” Forbes said. “There was a little bit of a backup when West Virginia played last week, but Granville did a good job around the stadium of keeping them moving.”
Sheriff Forbes said police from Granville have done a very good job with traffic control and keeping vehicles moving. The traffic for shopping, dining, and the baseball games moved steadily through the area without causing serious issues.
“Pretty laid back, the Granville guys did a good job up there around the stadium keeping the traffic moving,” Forbes said. “In the county and back to the interstates, we didn’t see anything much different than from a normal day.”
With fewer teams making the trip to Morgantown for this weekend tournament, Forbes said the traffic in that area could be no more than just a busy traffic day under normal circumstances.
“It’s going to be status quo up there,” Forbes said. “My family and I drove through last weekend during the tournament, and we didn’t encounter any delays or anything—we drove straight through.”
