Man charged after attack at downtown Morgantown nonprofit

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Westover man is being held in connection with an alleged assault at a downtown Morgantown nonprofit.

Matthew Fleming, 47, hit the victim in the face May 22 at Christian Help on Walnut Street in Morgantown. Investigators said the attack caused broken orbital bones and a brain injury that required a two day-stay in the Intensive Care Unit.

Fleming has been charged with malicious wounding and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.

The Morgantown Police Department conducted the investigation.
