Industrial accident claims life in Upshur County

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — A workplace accident in Upshur County has claimed a life.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Michael D. Martin, 73, of Mannington, W.Va. was killed in the mishap at Appalachian Forest Products in Buckhannon. The accident happened Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m.

Deputies were called to the scene for a report of an industrial accident. Martin was dead at the scene when they arrived.

Authorities say circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. Deputies are working with workplace safety regulatory investigators on the case.
