GRAFTON, W.Va. — The chief financial officer of Clarksburg-based WV News and her husband have been charged by Grafton police with a misdemeanor crime related to drugs.
Police said Crystal Eifert, 47, and her husband, Timothy Eifert, 54, both of Grafton, have both been charged with operating a drug house.
Police said they were alerted to the Eifert property by neighbors who reported a high volume of traffic at the residence on Yates Avenue.
Detectives conducted surveillance from March 1 to June 16 and reported bicycle traffic, moderate vehicle traffic with some visitors only staying for a short time and coming multiple times per day.
During the surveillance operation detectives said they recovered burnt foils, snorting devices, small bags with white powder residue, large amounts of used needles, empty butane torches, and broken glass smoking devices from their trash.
WV News Publisher Andy Kniceley told MetroNews Thursday Eifert has been a top worker with the company and has been active in the community.
“Crystal has been an excellent employee and she was recently promoted to chief financial officer as a result of that,” Kniceley said.
Kniceley also said the arrest record clearly shows WV News has no involvement at all and he trusts local authorities to impartially investigate the case and present the facts.
“We trust the authorities in Taylor County that are doing the investigation to make their findings clear and we believe everyone is innocent until proven guilty,” Kniceley said.
Crystal Eifert, who was promoted in April, has been released on a $50,000 bond.
Timothy Eifert is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
