POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — A Mason County man is set to spend 10 years in state prison for setting his family’s home on fire.

Tyler Crump, 33, of Point Pleasant, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to first-degree arson for a house fire last year on Tanglewood Drive.
State police responded to the home on March 4, 2025, after an arson report. Crump’s relatives said at the time that he threatened to burn down the house and kill them.
Crump was previously indicted last May on three counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson.
Investigators said they found a trace of tiki fluid from Crump’s room down the stairs of the home. He was accused of leaving the home and leaving his grandmother, brother, and mother in the house as it burned.
Troopers said the occupants were able to escape the home without injury.
