Reedsville woman accused of child neglect

REEDSVILLE, W.Va. — State police have arrested a Reedsville woman after she allegedly left her five-year-old autistic son alone while attempting to steal a car.

State police said Danielle Murray, 38, left the child at an apartment complex and was seen attempting to get into another person’s vehicle. A caller to 911 told dispatchers Murray seemed unsteady, had difficulty standing and was asking her child get the keys to the car.

Later, troopers observed Murray about a mile away from the scene walking toward a gas station. The neighbor told troopers the child was visibly upset and was searching for his mother after she left him behind.

Murray is charged with child neglect and is being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.
