MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –The West Run Housing Facility in Morgantown will close at the end of July after the initiation of foreclosure proceedings against the property owner.
The West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness (WVCEH) announced Friday that the facility will close effective July 31 of this year after the initiation of foreclosure proceedings by Clear Mountain Bank against the property owner, Bartlett Housing Solutions.
WVCEH operated the facility through a leasing arrangement with Bartlett House and received funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Program.
The West Run facility has faced operational challenges since at least early 2024 with the original Bartlett House announcing in March of that year that it would close due to a lack of funding after losing state grant money.
The organization did eventually receive emergency funding from Monongalia County and the City of Morgantown to continue operations through June 2024 before the WVCEH assumed full responsibility for operations in September 20224.
Since taking over the West Run Bridge Joint Transitional Housing-Rapid Rehousing project and the West Run Permanent Supportive Housing project from Bartlett House, the WVCEH has served 78 individuals through its Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) and Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) programs. Of the 63 participants who have exited the program, 56 participants (89%) transitioned to permanent housing.
The facility currently houses 18 individuals and provides a range of supportive services, including case management, occupational therapy, peer recovery support, onsite clinics, and food services.
