MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A WVU Medicine employee is suspended and an investigation has been launched after a video recording device was found at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital Friday.
A spokesperson from WVU Hospitals released the following statement:
“On Friday, June 26, a WVU Hospitals facilities team member working in non-public, staff restroom at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital found a hidden video recording device. After a brief, internal investigation by hospital security, an employee was identified in connection with this matter, and law enforcement was notified. As an added safety measure, both public and staff restrooms across the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital Medical Campus and its affiliated institutes, as well as Children’s Hospital, the Health Sciences Center, and Fairmont Medical Center, were inspected to ensure there were no other cameras. None was found. The employee was suspended on Friday pending the on-going criminal investigation, and all evidence has been turned over to local law enforcement, which is working with the Monongalia County prosecutor. We will continue to work with law enforcement and the prosecutor as the investigation continues.”
The name of the employee has not been released at this time.
