CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Monday night state workers will have a 3.5 day holiday weekend.

Morrisey said state employees can leave work Thursday at noon without using their accrued time. They already have Friday, July 3, off.
“The 250th anniversary of the United States is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and I want every West Virginian to have the opportunity to celebrate the birth of our nation,” Morrisey said. “By providing state employees with a half-day holiday, we’re recognizing both their hard work and the extraordinary significance of this historic anniversary while encouraging them to spend time with their families and take part in America250 events across the Mountain State.”
State law allows the courts and county commissions to follow suit and give a half-day additional holiday time to workers.
